Want and Need
Romans 7:19 “I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.”
As humans we look to fullfill our desires, but what is misunderstood is the differences between ‘want’ and ‘need’. Needs are required for survival, while wants are cravings we look to fulfill. Romans 7:19 speaks to this mentality, as we look to live within the scope of our own images, while never discerning the difference between what we want from what we should be doing. For the purpose of our lives was not to indulge in fantasties. No, our lives were to be like that fish swimming upstream against the current. Why? Becauseafter we have battled the waves and rapids of tribulation our destination looks that much sweeter. And the significance of our struggle will end in the multiplication of moral, Christ-like individuals who will all be welcomed home. Amen
