Never Take Revenge
Romans 12:19 – Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.
In what way shape or form do I not have the right to take an eye for an eye? On what grounds may someone wrong me without facing retaliation from the heat of my anger? Why is that fair, shouldn’t they suffer like they made me? Shouldn’t they feel the sting of a bow’s arrow, or the cut of a sword? For isn’t vengeance mine, thus sayest (ME)? Wrong! Vengeance is Gods, which will save your mind from lying in utter ruin, like the Columbine or D.C shooters (Nahum 1:2). Too many times we do not let go and “let God transform us into a new person” (Rom 12:2). We seek to take matters into our own hands in order to feel relief from the pressure to react. When God fights our battles, He always wins. But our trust must be placed in his discernment, while our faith wraps itself in the power and strength of his loving arms. Amen
